Local High Schools Among Top in PA

Thirteen Philadelphia and suburban high schools rank in the top 25 in Pennsylvania for 2020, according to a new study by US News & World Report. The study evaluated 754 high schools in PA and more than 24,000 throughout the US. Here are the high schools in our area that made the top 25:

#1—Julia R. Masterman Secondary School, Philadelphia, in the Philadelphia School District, is ranked as the top high school in PA and #16 nationally.

#2—Downingtown STEM Academy, Downingtown, in the Downingtown Area School District, ranks #2 in PA and #20 nationally.

#3—Radnor High School, Radnor, in the Radnor School District, ranks #3 in PA and #211 nationally.

#4—Conestoga High School, Berwyn, in the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District, is rated as #4 in PA and #229 nationally.

#5—Central High School, Philadelphia, in the Philadelphia School District, ranks #5 in PA and #275 nationally.

#6—Unionville High School, Kennett Square, in the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District, is rated #6 in PA and #370 nationally.

#8—Wissahickon High School, Ambler, part of the Wissahickon School District, ranks #8 in PA and #423 nationally.

#13—Harriton High School, Rosemont, in the Lower Merion School District, ranks #13 in PA and #578 nationally.

#14—Lower Merion High School, Ardmore, in the Lower Merion School District, is rated as #14 in PA and #657 nationally.

#17—Central Bucks High School–East, Doylestown, in the Central Bucks School District, ranks #17 in PA and #721 nationally.

#20—Great Valley High School, Malvern, in the Great Valley School District, ranks #20 in PA and #793 nationally.

#22—New Hope-Solebury High School, New Hope, in the New Hope-Solebury School District, ranks #22 in PA and #801 nationally.

#24—West Chester Bayard Rustin High School, West Chester, in the West Chester Area School District, ranks #24 in PA and #854 nationally.

The criteria used in the study are: college readiness; math and reading proficiency; math and reading performance; underserved student performance; college curriculum breadth; and graduation rate.
