Biking on Montgomery County Trails

Biking on Montgomery County Trails

For outdoor exercise, it’s hard to beat biking on Montgomery County trails. Two of the best-loved trails are the Perkiomen Trail and the Schuylkill River Trail.

The Perkiomen Trail is a 20-mile trail along the Perkiomen Creek from Oaks to Green Lane Park. Known for its beautiful scenery, the trail is mostly unpaved and used by bikers, walkers, and the occasional horseback rider.

North of Collegeville, riders on the Perkiomen Trail can connect to the Skippack Trail and bike into Skippack Village. At the southern end of the trail at Oaks, bikers can pick up the Schuylkill River Trail. For those who want to start at Oaks, parking is available at the Pawlings Road trailhead.

The Schuylkill River Trail is a longer trail extending from Philadelphia through Montgomery County and into Chester and Berks Counties. A popular section of the trail is the 26-mile ride, mostly paved, along the Schuylkill River between Valley Forge National Park and Philadelphia.
