Located in beautiful Chester County, Phoenixville has
undergone a remarkable renaissance during the last fifteen years. A former
steel town, it is now known for its lively downtown, with an impressive assortment
of restaurants, breweries, wineries, pubs, and boutiques. It is also home to
the Phoenixville Farmer’s Market, Colonial Theatre, and Phoenixville Public
Library.
Incorporated in 1849, historic Phoenixville Borough is surrounded
by several scenic suburban townships: Schuylkill Township, East Pikeland
Township, and Upper Providence Township. All are in the Phoenixville School
District, except Upper Providence Township, which is in the Spring-Ford School
District.
Housing in the Phoenixville area is diverse, ranging from
the very old to brand new. During the last three months, the average sold price
for single-family homes in Phoenixville Borough and its three surrounding
townships was $433,358. But for newer single-family homes up to 25 years old, it
was a much higher $592,538. The average sold
price of townhouses and rowhouses during the last three months was $288,343,
but among newer townhouses up to 25 years old, the average was $346,211 (statistics
from BrightMLS).
Phoenixville residents can visit the area’s many parks and
are close to Valley Forge National Park, with 3,500 acres and more than 30
miles of trails. Cyclists and runners will love the Schuylkill River Trail, a
well-maintained route connecting to other local trails.
Routes 113, 23, and 29 run through Phoenixville, and several
major roads are close by: Route 422, Route 202, the Schuylkill Expressway, and
the PA Turnpike. Nearby employment options include companies in King of Prussia
and Oaks, Collegeville pharmaceuticals, and businesses in the Great Valley
Corporate Center in Malvern.
